I wanted to recreate a 12th-century ceramic piece from Dourdan that I got through my father, who is an archaeologist. I started by taking around fifty reference photos.
Then, I created a low poly model in Blender and exported it to ZBrush to sculpt, break, and fracture it in the same spots as the original pot. The baking was done in Substance Painter, where I also handled all the texturing.
The final renders were done using Blender's Cycles engine.
I'm quite proud of this project, it was my first time using ZBrush and trying sculpting, even if it was just a light touch in this case. A first for me!
I also really took the time to work on the texturing to make it as realistic as possible and stay true to the reference. I ended up with over forty layers in Substance, maybe even more.
